"Follow the leader"
Reggio Inspired Play: parents learning to follow their child's lead in play
-------------------------------------------------
The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational philosophy focused on preschool and primary education.
It was developed after World War II by a psychologist Loris Malaguzzi,
and parents in the villages around Reggio Emilia in Italy.
Following the war, people believed that children were in need of a new way of learning.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an approach to teaching, learning and advocacy for children.
In its most basic form, it is a way of observing what children know,
are curious about and what challenges them.
Here at the Salvation Army Parent-Child Resource Centre,
we have taken the children's exhibit called
The Wonder of Learning: The Hundred Languages of Children
and have made two sessions.
The first session is a six week program consisting of Columns, Creativity,
& Industrial activities each stemming from the previous week.
The second session, is an eight week program, similar to the first one,
with the addition of Smells, Tastes & Sounds.
Below here are photos from our first session completed March 2, 2017
The second Session -Completed May 2017
The third Session - Completed Nov. 16, 2017
The forth session - Completed Feb 22, 2018
The fifth session - completed May 31, 2018
